Dr. Courtney Crowell
Dr. Courtney Crowell is a residency-trained and board-certified optometrist who brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to the Mueller Vision team. A native of the Memphis area, Dr. Crowell completed her undergraduate education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio. She went on to complete a residency at the Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, where she provided comprehensive care for underserved populations. This experience not only refined her expertise in advanced ocular disease management but also deepened her commitment to service — both locally and abroad. Her time in residency fostered a profound appreciation for the human side of eye care, inspiring her to continue mission-based work, volunteering at local and international clinics to deliver compassionate care to those most in need.
Dr. Crowell remains deeply devoted to advancing her profession and expanding access to vision care across Texas. She actively serves in local and statewide optometric and public health organizations, lending her voice to initiatives that protect and promote high standards of eye care. Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Crowell embraces life with the same enthusiasm she brings to her practice. She cherishes spending quality time with loved ones, cheering on her beloved Arkansas Razorbacks, discovering new culinary gems as an avid foodie, traveling to new destinations near and far, or finding peace on a long run — she values the balance between caring for others and savoring life’s many adventures.
Open Letter to Patients
I didn’t have the most traditional introduction to the world of eye care. I was in the fifth grade when a playful afternoon with friends took an unexpected turn — a boomerang accident left me with a painful eye injury and a lasting memory. What could have been just a frightening experience became something much more meaningful because of the optometrist who cared for me. They didn’t just treat my eye — they guided me through the fear and uncertainty with kindness, reassurance, and a calm confidence that made a lasting impression. As I healed, I found myself fascinated by the world of vision and the incredible role our eyes play in connecting us to life around us.
That experience became the foundation for my lifelong passion for eye care. Over the years, my interest naturally deepened toward ocular disease — understanding, diagnosing, and treating the complex conditions that can affect the eyes. I realized early on that my role as an optometrist wasn’t just to treat symptoms, but to help patients understand how their eyes can reveal so much about their overall health.
At Mueller Vision, I’m grateful for the opportunity to have these conversations every day — to educate and empower my patients about their vision, and to connect the dots between eye findings and broader conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and autoimmune disorders. Each interaction reminds me of why I chose this profession: because every patient deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for with compassion and expertise.
That moment in the fifth grade could have been just an accident — but it became my calling. The care I received as a child continues to shape how I care for others today. My promise to you is the same one I was given years ago: to treat not just your eyes, but you — with patience, empathy, and dedication every step of the way.
Sincerely,

Dr. Courtney Crowell
